All right, having been here 2 weeks now, I've got a few. Probably not unique to NZ but certainly different from my old place, and all good by the way:
-All the bare feet, definitely.
-Hitchhikers, even single women
-Non "PC" TV - this show called Braniacs is similar to a show called Mythbusters. The other day the host was trying to create a "floater" by eating nothing but fruit for a day. You would not see this on broadcast TV in the US no way.
-Much more plentiful public facilities - restrooms, parks, hike and bike ways.
Lots of school related stuff:
-Sign at the intermediate school warning about "sharing spit" through bottles, gum, smokes and joints
-Playground equipment you would never see in the states. Player beware.
-Girls wearing short shorts and skirts to school
Here's one from the day's news: a woman trying to hijack a plane with a knife, (and another knife in her sock). Personally I like that there's not all this airport security US style - open your laptop, take off your belt! Shoes off! But I guess it goes both ways.
