Hello

As I understand it, NZ needs skilled people. Usually, though not necessarily, skilled people have degrees, which need to be assessed. This should be a good thing for NZ -- highly educated people with degrees moving there. But when that assessment takes considerably longer than the time you have to lodge your visa applications, what is the point? Just creates frustration and unrealistic expectations.

However, it seems that NZIS is realising this problem. I contacted NZIS about my situation and the reply was:

However, just this week policy has changed resulting in the possibility that you may now not require the NZQA Assessment. However in order for this to be determined we would require a copy of your qualification transcript. Our Skilled Migrant Manager can then review your transcript and determine if you still require the NZQA Assessment.

I did as asked, but unfortunately I still need an NZAQ full assessment... The good news is that they gave me an extension of 2 months to lodge my application!

In any case, maybe this change in the policy may be of interest to other people.

Cheers,
Luis
