Yes, yes it does.
The other problem with finding one's way around Chch is that the city fathers conspired against anyone who isn't a native.
How else could you explain these two 'rules' of the layout of Chch's streets:
1. No street is straight. Every street invariably bends at least 45 degrees once you turn onto it.
2. Any street that is straight changes its name after a random number of intersections. Drive in one direction and you'll be on at least three different roads within five minutes.
I get lost here all the time, and I come from Boston where you can travel on Rt. 128 and Rt. 95 in opposite directions at the same time!
