We loved Wellington as well Amy. It really appealed to us, we loved the feel of the place. It really did 'speak' to us. The way the houses cling to the hillsides clustered around the bay, the poetic feelings of liberation the harbour initiates in word and image, the excitement of the unknown that all port cities hold is tangible, almost like each ship large or small holds a portal into another culture. I sat for hours down there just watching the comings and goings of an exotic world I know so sadly little about.
There just wasn't the space for the same dreamer to ride her horse with the wind blowing through her hair nor for spirited children to roll down hillsides strewn with wild flowers and that is why we couldn't stay.
We'll be back though. So look out!!
