Regarding going to new zealand for say a month looking for job offers i can do that but would they want to employ me when they know i would have to return to the Uk to sell my house and that could take 6 months what employer is going to wait that long for me.
Both my OH and I explained our circumstances at interview and both employers were very understanding. All they have asked for is that we keep them informed of our progress. I have a start date of February 2008 but have been told this is negotiable. MY OH's employer is happy to wait for him. It seems that NZ employers are aware of the situation with people trying to migrate and the delays they may experience with the immigration process.
Have you thought about renting you house out? I am unsure of your age and circumstances but could you go on a work visa? My friend & her family went to OZ on a work visa last July when her OH obtained employment. They shipped out their belongingsand rented their house out through an agent to ensure the mortgage was covered. They have settled and have now sold the house in the UK, are in the process of buying a property and of obtaining PR. Sometimes it is a case of nothing ventured, nothing gained.............. I know it seems scary believe me.............. but as a worst case scenario, if it doesn't work out you could always come back...!!!!!Good luck. Mel
