This is what we all understood, so you can imagine how amazed we were when Macfod bought a cafe business and went on to get his LTBV without having had any previous experience or qualifications. I know INZ is very keen for people to employ kiwis and Macfod's business already had kiwi staff when he took it over. so that may have swung it for him. Perhaps you could drop him a PM to see if he's got any helpful info for you or start a new thread in the main body of the forum asking about it where Macfod is more likely to see it.

Yes, this is pretty normal. NZ employers prefer to see you face to face because a lot of prospective migrant employees never actually make it to NZ, so it's been a waste of time for the employers. Making your way to see them in NZ shows commitment and they may take you more seriously.

Maybe Dawn was referring to what Macfod did. He just took himself off to NZ and set about buying a business and applying for his LTBV without a hope of succeeding. Yet he did it. He was determined to succeed and he did. I wouldn't like to say it would work for everyone, but if one can do it..........
