I'm probably a bit late in replying but if you look on
Accommodation, Attractions & Travel Guide for Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific - Jasons Travel Channel and use the filter, you should get a list of motels and hotels near the airport. Many of these will pick you up at the airport and in most cases you can have your car rental/campervan delivered to your motel/hotel. We've stayed in one motel near Auckland airport, and it wasn't as nice as the photo showed, and rather noisy. "Star" quality it was not, though the units were spacious.
