Honestly officer, the bridge jump out in front of me and I had nowhere to go!
The flow in our end of the Waimak has been quite fast lately (ask Hopeful
) so I hit the bridge head on at ramming speed! I chipped the front of the kayak (good job it's not a new one), but luckily, I managed to stay upright. I would have been rolled over by the current and no doubt trapped against the bridge if I'd struck it sideways on. Now that would have been funny......
