They were well-mannered, respectful, polite and entertaining. We went to bed as the sun came up and they all crashed wherever they could find a space. Three of my favourite boys cooked breakfast for everyone at about 9.30 and most of them hung around long enough to help me clean up and take out the rubbish.
Now don't be thinking I was just lucky coz Laurens friends must come from decent families. A lot of these kids are off the local estate and think Lauren's way out of their league but they've all said that because they felt trusted in my house and because they were treated with respect it was natural for them to behave likewise and up their game. Young people are given a hard time and all you have to do is get to know them. They are my friends as well as her and I will miss them just about as much as she will.

Well, Dawn's probably got a sensible head on her shoulders like her mother and knows better than to hang out with the wrong crowd--or at least to bring the wrong crowd home!
