As WG said, you get mixed reactions about the place. Anyone who's ever lived in Ngaruawahia think's it's great! I think, because it looked a bit rough, people passing through get a poor impression of the place. Now it's been spruced up a bit, it looks better already.
The secret is though, that property is still VERY affordable here because of the reputation, so you can practically snag a farm for the price of a small section in Hamilton town! It's only a 10 minute run to the north of Ham or 25 to the city centre, so nice easy commute.
