Have things tightened up since I came over here? ?To get certified copies of our documents - I photocopied them, took them and the originals to my solicitor, a girl behind the desk checked the copy was that of the original, stamped and initialled the copy, charged five pounds for the inconvenience. ?
Obviously it seems you have to pay extra if you want originals or special copies of birth certificates, marriage licence etc. from the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. ? Useful to have these if you don't have them, but a photocopy certified by your solicitor's office (as explained above) should suffice for your application ... well it did for us. ?
