Re: Look before you leap
What a flurry of conversation here, and I just turned my back for a week or two. I had to reread the entire thread to figure out what I missed that would get such a rise out of Dawn et al. Clare does get rather sour-grapey about how NZ is promoted versus what she experienced, but I don't think she was trying to insult anyone or their reasons for wanting to go to NZ. It may have been that she just wasn't expressing herself clearly. It's too bad that she performed a bit of "hit-and-run" rather than stick around and clarify her observations.
I suspect that she was hoping to remind people that NZ does have some problems which we might not be thinking about. I think that is useful, so that we can weigh as many factors as we can before making such a big decision. Her reasons for preferring the UK are her own, and I doubt she was questioning the rationality of the rest of us. Considering her children didn't want to live in NZ, and assuming that she wants to keep close to them, I think it's a valid point in favor of her remaining in the UK.
