It did cross my mind when I was posting that, that it has the potential of opening up the floodgates to others in a similar position. As it is, NZ has given the go-ahead by appearing to condone the parents' action. The rules are quite strict and clear - you won't be allowed in if you're likely to be a burden on the health system. If they can make allowances for one, they must do it for everyone, otherwise they leave themselves wide open to criticism.
Can you imagine what would have happened to one of us if we'd got found out lying during a medical? That would be the end of NZ for us. The Romanians should have gone to the UK - they let anyone in there and give them the best of whatever's on offer ::).
