The winter temps in Oman were very similar to the 'summer' temps we've been experiencing here in Hamilton, so it wasn't such a shock to our systems. As I've said previously, it's not just us that have been commenting on the cool weather, everyone around us says the same. However, the last 2 days, the fierce cold wind has dropped and it's got much warmer. A couple of days had started with wonderful blue skies, but soon deteriorated into threatening black clouds. At least with today and yesterday being very warm and that warmth lasting all day, we have had a little taste of what summer can be like here. Once we're on our way back to Oman, summer will really start in Hamilton. Isn't it always the way ?! :'(

We're leaving NZ this afternoon for the return journey to Oman [smilie=Cry.gif] . Can't say I'm over-enthusiatic about leaving. I could happily put down my roots here as the 'real life' experience has been a good one, which should be encouraging to those who are soon to make their way here to begin a new life. Many people can have a great time doing the 'tourist' thing, but it's reassuring for us to know that we've tasted a bit of everyday life and are still very pleased with what we've seen and done. We have slipped into NZ life like a pair or comfy slippers - it's only the work experience that's missing, but as we should be retired when we actually come here to live, that shouldn't be a problem.
