Hope your mum takes your news OK. Perhaps you could soften the blow with some form of compromise, like talking over plans for her to visit you and how you can keep in touch while you're apart. If she's OK with the computer, perhaps you can encourage her to chat to you on one of the instant messenger sites, like MSN or Yahoo, complete with webcam. It really is a great way to stay in touch.
