This was on the news, it's basically one or two people have decided it's distracting to motorists so is a danger, and recent changes in law require consent for this kind of thing.

They seem pretty sure the consent will be granted as it's a local icon, and the people they interviewed on the news thought it was great.

PCness hasn't been banned here, but there is a lot of press over the subject and a whole TV show dedicated to it the other night with politicians etc being questioned over it. Seems that most people agree that being PC is a total load of crap, so maybe in the next few years NZ will see it being erradicated. Let's hope so anyway!
