A swot is a British slang term for an inoffensive person who offends his peers by too careful attention to schoolwork.

A swat is normally termed ?fly swat? which is used for killing flies (or anything else that gets in the way).

Both sound the same, so it's difficult to judge what's meant unless you can tell by the content of the sentence in which the word is used.
