Introduce Yourself!
We toyed with the idea of using a consultant, thinking that the process would be too confusing. But they wanted $9000, and wouldn't give us much info on what we would get for our money. Immigration fees were definitely extra.
We muddled through on our own, and so far haven't been told that we screwed up horribly. The biggest pain for me was keeping track of what needed to be done, and what we were waiting on, such as police checks. If you have any organization skills, you should be able to do it. Keep notes, mark your calendar, and stay on target. It did occupy my attention for a while, but not enough to pay someone else $9K to do it for me.
The immigration consultants may also offer a job search "club" and recommendations for movers and pet shippers, but forums like this one can help you with a lot of that for free (donations are probably accepted, though).
Good luck!
