Hi, I'm new to all this chat room business...so be gentle. I'm Scottish but I live in Bristol and I'm hoping to move to NZ this time next year with my partner - who is lucky enough to have a British and NZ passport. So that bit should be easy - right? Can I ask if anyone can give me advice on whether it is best to apply for residency under the Family Quota from the UK or on arrival in NZ? I am a student just now and funds are TIGHT. We have loads of people we can stay with in NZ and I understand that the admin fees are about half the price if you apply from NZ...anyone know how long that would take?

Also - did anyone ever find out how much it is to take a cat? I phoned British Airways the other day and they estimated it would be about ?430 to take a cat as cargo. Anyone have any other experiences?
