I'm sure there are plenty people on here who'll know better than me.. but here's my 2 penny worth..
40,000 NZD is 15,000 sterling..

15 grand here is probably on the low side I would guess (i'm sure there are millions who would kill to be earning 15grand right enough)
but I would think that 40 000 NZD in new zealand would be the same as earning 40,000 sterling here in the UK.. which is a very good wage..

bit of a ramble there , but the upshot is , i think that would be considered a decent wage in New Zealand
