But it seems I may have been jumping the gun a bit.
I didn't see the note (have a PhD but can't fill in a simpe form!) on the EOI that says:

"PLEASE NOTE: A qualification(s) in an identified future growth area or cluster only qualifies for bonus points if you are also claiming points for current skilled employment or an offer of skilled employment in an identified future growth area or cluster.

Only complete Questions F9 to F11 if you are claiming points for current skilled employment or an offer of skilled employment."

I have no offer of employment, and don't work in NZ :( so can't claim for skilled employment

So I think that leaves me with 90 points instead of 100....

What I don't get is why it still gives me 100 points if I have selected "none of the above" when asked about skilled employment (thin ray of hope). Maybe it's just a bug in the form (it shouldn't add the points on from questions f9 to f11 if you've selected none of the above in e1)

Also (sorry) when I fill out the points indicator I get 100 (?) as it doesn't say on that that the qualification points only count if you are claiming for skilled employment.
