Default UK Panel Doctors

The medical is very straight forward and really nothing to worry about. We had both our medicals and chest xrays done at the same time. First we were seen by a nurse who checked weight and height. This was followed by a urine and blood sample after which we were seen by the doctor. He asked a number of questions regarding general health and history of certain conditions in family members. He then checked eyes, ears and throat and reflexs and took blood pressure. Mine was slightly up, due probably to the importance of the medical.

After the medical we had chest xrays which really are to check for TB. The medical report and xrays were recieved some days later ( the samples have to be tested ) in a sealed envelope which we took to NZ House with all or other papers.

You can download copies of the medical form at http://www.immigration.govt.nz/Migra...ides/Other.htm This will tell you all the things they are looking for and is a good idea as you have to take a completed form to the medical.

So now you can relax. It is not as scary as it seems. I am not sure what they will say about high blood pressure if it is a permanate condition. Certainly it caused no problem for me. As to what else can stop you being approved, well I guess the type of things mentioned on the medical form may give you an indication.

Certainly anything to do with HIV/Aids, history of drug misuse and TB will get you rejected. The medical form asks you to state yes or no to a number of medical conditions, but it doesn't mean that if you say yes to any of them, you will be rejected.

The medical forms and xrays are assessed by the NZ Immigration Department who will seek further information if there are any concerns.

I hope this has been of some use.
