Default Looking for advice

Hi everyone,

Just a word of warning - I know someone who is already in NZ and has their EOI in progress at the moment. They had 105 points I think without job offers, and have come over here and managed to land a job. They spoke to NZIS to say that they now hoave a job, more points and that the application should go through quicker now. However, they said that it wouldn't make a difference!

They were told that it's not an issue because they have work visas (so he could start the job straight away) and they have a year to get residency anyway.

So I suppose the moral of the story is, apply now and get your EOI in if you want to, but just be aware that you will need to get a work visa too if you need to start work quicker than the processing time of your EOI cos apparantly it doesn't make any difference! Great! :icon_confused:

PS - Although I was told by NZIS on the phone last week when I chased up our application AGAIN (165 points with job - selected 15th Sep! We're here working on work permits at the mo) that it wouldn't be pushed through quicker unless there was an emergency - don't know what they would consider an emergency tho - I told them Daz wanted to enrol on a course for next year and had to apply before the end of this year but couldn't apply unless he was a resident, and this wasn't enough. :icon_rolleyes: Good luck!
