Hi Kat,
No worries !
It's a good idea to learn about it now. It may still be the same, or similar, when you want to go for it.
The thing is, if you learn now you will pick it up much more quickly next time. Also, you may adjust your plans to maximise your chances.
For example, take your relationship. If one of you wanted to be the main applicant and the other get in as a partner, then you will need to prove a long term ralationship.
There is certain evidence etc that they will ask for.
You may decide simple things, like whose name is on a bill, that would make that easier later.
I'm NOT suggesting you get married just to satisfy NZIS !
Keep documents that you will need.
