Kia Ora from Michigan
Hi Michigan.
There are no PA's in NZ. Coming to NZ you would have to resit exams probably for a nursing position. Medical jobs are not highly paid here due to national health as an example a radiologist makes $45 NZD a year. Thats the buying power of $28 USD. In order to qualify for permanent residency you would have to take english languages tests for all members of your family emigrating. Only people from the UK do not have to sit these tests.
Medical institutions are continously underfunded with people on waitlists for hip replacements or heart operations waiting 6 months to a year before they can have an operation. Cancer patients are constantly flown to Australia for treatment due to staff shortages due to underfunding.
The grass is not always greener: we have legalized prostitution, high drug use (3rd highest amphetamine P in the world), high rates of teenage pregnancy (also 3rd highest), no air pollution controls on vehicles, most of our fresh water lakes are polluted with farm manure runoff. The country in a 100 years has gone from being 79% forested to less then 30% causing large problems with flooding. Our main natural gas source will dry up in 2007 causing serious longtem problems for electricty supplies and the dairy industry. The roads in UP are 100% better then here.
A lot of Kiwis move to Australia to be replaced by folks from the UK and mainland China.
Just want you to see that its not all 100% NZ. But if you like socialism come on down
