Helen - I'm not sure I agree with your assessment of the Canadian economy. Of all the G8 nations, Canada has maintained the greatest rate of economic growth over the last decade, and diversification beyond the traditional resource-based economy occured in the 1970's. As for the western oil reserves running dry, even the most conservative estimates anticipate such an occurance to be decades away (like ten). The most basic economic indicators, such as GDP and foreign direct investment, provide ample reassurance that Canada's future economic stability should not be in doubt.
